Golf Wedges: Take A New Look
If you’re looking to improve your golf game by buying a new golf club, wedges should be your first choice. Everyone focuses on the latest powerful big driver which can send the ball the farthest, or at least claims it can. And that’s understandable.
Drivers are a lot more glamorous than wedges. Similarly, the average golfer pays a lot of attention to his putting game. A lot of that is because that’s where all the breathtaking, heartbreaking finishes to major golf matches are decided, and they get a lot of media attention. And they really should be a big focus when it comes to your equipment. But there’s a lot more to the game of golf than driving and putting.
But are putters really the most important golf club? Wedges are what it takes to get you within putting distance after tee off. And if you can’t do that well, putting can’t make up for the strokes mistakes getting to the green add to your game. You can be one of the best putters in the world, but if you consistently fail in your chipping game, because of poor equipment, it’s not going to do you much good.
So if you’re looking for a new golf club, wedges should be an important consideration. And there’s been a lot of improvement in the technology over the past decade or so when it comes to designing and manufacturing wedges. And the pace of that improved technology has greatly increased even in just the past couple years. So if your wedges are three or four years old or more, you’re probably not using the best golf clubs on the market.
The reason they’re so much better than the ones made even a few years ago is because of one thing: computers. With the powerful hardware and software available to golf club manufacturers today, their engineers and designer can create and test new groove patterns, for example, in just a few weeks, without ever building an actual club. In the old days, it would have taken months to do that, and required a lot of hands on physical labor and building of prototypes. But now they can do in their PC, then build the golf club. Wedges have a come a long way lately, and you should consider investing in a new one.
