Golf Wedges Are Critical To Your Game

Golf is a massively popular sport, and it’s growing in popularity all the time.  Much of the boom in recent years can be directly traced to the rise of Tiger Woods, one of the biggest phenomenons in all of sports history.  But it’s an unfortunate fact that many golfers have a real hard time lowering their scores.  Some of them have been playing for years, but can’t seem to break through a certain barrier.  They progress well at first, even though golf is quite a difficult game to master, and they think they’re well on their way.  But they hit a plateau, and their progress stops.

Why is this?  Part of is it that they don’t pay enough attention to one of the critical pieces of equipment, wedges.  Golf wedges are sort of the red headed step children of golf clubs to many amateur duffers.  They don’t pay them much attention because they don’t seem as “glamorous” or “sexy” as putters and drivers.  Lets’ face it; these are the clubs that get the lions share of attention not just from amateur golfer, but also from the sports media, and even the golf industry.  What do the Saturday and Sunday golf tournaments on TV feature so much?  Long drives, and long putts.  You’ll see them in commercial after commercial.  And so many golfers come to the conclusion that that’s where the action is.

But golf wedges are critically important, even though they don’t receive nearly as much attention.  And this is the missing piece of the puzzle for many golfers who are frustrated at their lack of improvement.  They’ll spend hundreds of dollars on drivers, and spend hours at the range, trying to perfect their swing.  They’ll install practice putting ranges in their home, and work meticulously at perfecting their putting game.  When it comes to their equipment budgets, golf wedges take a distant third place.  But many golf games are won or lost in the area between putting range and 100 yards of the hole.  This area is called the scoring zone because it can make or break your game.  Many golfers could make great strides if they would pay more attention to their wedges.
