Golf Clubs: Wedges Are Key To Your Game

When it comes to golf clubs, wedges tend to get the short end of the stick.  Golf is a wonderful game to play, but it can be infuriating and heartbreaking.  Trying to lower their golf score is a goal shared by millions of people, but quite a few of them have no luck with it, or at least very little success.

They spend years practicing their putts, as well as their driving.   They spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on fancy new clubs over the course of their golf hobby, but they’re still frustrated.   Why is that?  Why is it that so many strive so hard to get better at gold, but never seem to make much progress?  Sure, they might have a great game every now and then, and even beat their handicap for a few games in a row, but pretty soon their game returns to normal.  Well, in many cases it’s because players spend so much time and money on drivers and putters, but not on wedges.

Like all golf clubs, wedges will be found in every golfer’s bag.  But they don’t get the respect they deserve.  Part of the reason why this is the case is that it’s difficult to practice with wedges, at least more difficult that with the other golf clubs.  Wedges tend to come out only during a game, but not during the week.  Compare that to putters and drivers.  Many dedicated golfers will go down to the driving range at least once a week or so and spend a few hours working on this aspect of their game.  And they notice a gradual improvement as they keep doing this.  The same is true of putters - many players have little practice set ups in their home, garage, or office, and they take a few hours each week to try to improve their short game.  And this is all well and good, but chipping is a huge part of the game, too, and it gets overlooked.  Consequently, players tend to not focus on buying the best wedges they can get.  When they correct this error, many of them find their game improves dramatically.
