Callaway is one of the best known and most highly respested names in manufacturers of golf equipment.  Based in Carlsbad, CA, the company grew out of a partership between Ely Callaway and the Hickory Sticks golf club company.  Callaway was a fan of the company’s clubs, and when they fell on hard times, he became a partner in the company.  By 1984 he had become sole owner, and began selling the new Callaway clubs out of the trunk of his car.  Because his products were such high quality, business began growing, and today they are one of the biggest companies producing clubs, including Callaway golf wedges.
